Competition Machine Shop

We have a unique blend of high-performance and racing engine related machining capabilities. We routinely perform engine component modifications, such as crankshaft lightening & balancing along with all aspects of cylinder head work (including porting and air flow testing). "Twin-Plugging" of Porsche cylinder heads is one of our specialties. We possess the equipment and expertise to modify engine blocks, crank cases and many internal engine components as well as drive train and suspension components. We also modify carburetors and throttle bodies to increase air flow and performance. Additionally, we manufacture our own line of custom velocity stacks and for most side and down-draft carburetors such as Weber, PMO and Mikuni. Custom velocity stacks are machined from billet aluminum and may be designed and manufactured to customer specifications.

Custom Design & Fabrication

JB Racing has the facilities, equipment and expertise to TIG weld mild, alloy and stainless steel, aluminum, titanium and magnesium. We routinely fabricate custom exhaust header and collector systems utilizing high-quality exhaust components from nationally recognized manufacturers. We are often retained to produce custom suspension pieces, shifters, various induction components and linkage assemblies for custom racing vehicles.

Race Engine Building

We build 4, 6, 8 and occasional 12-cylinder racing engines for a wide variety of racing applications. Our client list includes teams competing in the American Le Mans Series, IMSA, SPEED World Challenge Series, Grand-AM KONI Challenge, Historic Sportscar Racing (HSR), Porsche Club of America (PCA) and SCCA and others. We specialize in Sports Car Road Racing applications utilizing BMW, Chevrolet, Ford, Nissan, Porsche and Toyota power plants for professional as well as amateur racers. Our racing engines are meticulously prepared and assembled in our spacious, climate-controlled assembly room and are dyno-tuned before leaving our facility. Our racing engines consistently power cars that finish at the front of their respective classes.

Engine Dynamometer & Testing

We offer a fully computerized dyno testing facility featuring our Dynamic Test Systems DTS8800. This dyno provides state-of-the-art testing capabilities that produce highly accurate and repeatable testing results for 4, 6, 8 and 12-cylinder engines. Our facility has been recognized as one of the finer testing facilities in the Southeastern United States. We have established and maintain close working relationships with engine management system manufacturers such as MOTEC, EFI, DTA and LINK. Professional engine builders as well as the general racing public are invited to utilize our dyno facility for their engine development programs.

Induction system component development and testing is performed with our Super Flow Air Bench. This testing station is utilized to optimize the air flow characteristics in a wide variety of carburetors, throttle bodies, intake manifolds and cylinder heads to produce optimum horsepower and driveability.
