Flywheel
& Performance Clutch Kits |
Our
new High-performance flywheel/clutch kits are custom engineered
for a wide range of applications from a normal street driven
upgrade, to a “tuned” multi-use street/track car
with select kits rated up to a maximum 495 ft. lbs. of engine
torque. Each Kit includes one of our popular lightweight aluminum
flywheels packaged with matching Sachs HD "Sports”
Performance Clutch Disc and Pressure Plate components. Sachs
is the OEM clutch supplier for many BMW models and is known
world-wide as a leader in clutch technology and development,
providing the market with OEM, High Performance Street and
Racing Clutch systems. Sachs HD "Sports clutch components
provide a significant upgrade from the OE clutch.
Flywheel and pressure plate components are supplied fully
balanced and are ready for installation. Kits include all
necessary installation hardware and installation instructions.
A stock throw-out bearing (TOB) should be used and must
be purchased separately. Pressure Plates are Sachs HD “Sports”
components and are available in E36 and E46/E39 configurations.
Both feature increased clamping pressure, heavy duty rivets
and beefed-up straps for additional power-handling capacity.
Additionally, the E36 pressure plate features “captured”
rivets and straps while the E46/E39 component a Non-SAC
design.
General Description
Clutch Discs are available in either RIGID, or SPRUNG hub
configuration with ORGANIC “Race Linings”, or
with a “Puck-Style” SINTERED METALLIC friction
lining which has a more aggressive engagement characteristic,
but offers an increased engine torque rating necessary for
many “tuned” applications.
Organic-Lined Clutch Discs- are constructed with
Sachs special organic "race linings” to provide
increased grip and power handling capacity over the OE clutch,
while retaining near-stock clutch engagement characteristics.
Sprung-hub Clutch Disc provides dampening necessary to minimize
potential transmission noise caused by engine harmonics.
Organic-Lined Clutch kits offered are rated at 350 and 420
ft/lbs. of peak engine torque depending upon the specific
components.
Sintered Metallic Puck Clutch Discs- these clutch
kits are designed to handle the increased power of most
naturally aspirated “tuned”, and “moderate”
forced-induction applications. These clutch discs will have
a more aggressive engagement and are suitable for competition
track/autocross/endurance applications where positive clutch
engagement is of high importance. HD Sintered Metallic Puck
clutch kits are rated at 415 and 495 ft/lbs. of peak engine
torque depending upon the specific components. (Please call

New E39 540i and M5 Semi-Custom Flywheel
and Performance Clutch Kits
These V-8 powered cars have suffered with a marginal OE
240mm clutch from the outset and when "tuned"
for additional performance, the OEM clutch is simply not
up to the task of handling the additional power. We have
designed two(2) special flywheels to accept the larger 280mm
clutch compontnts from the 850Csi which provides additional
power handling capacity while maintaining near normal clutch
engagement and drivability.
These pre-engineered flywheel/clutch kits are supplied
complete with one of our "semi-custom" lightweight
aluminum flywheels, an organic-lined 280mm sprung-hub clutch
disc, pressure plate, throw-out bearing, alignment tool,
and a larger displacement clutch slave cylinder. The flywheels
weigh 16.0 lbs (approximately 3 lbs. more than our OEM replacement
aluminum flywheel), which coupled with the sprung-hub clutch
disc assists in minimizing potential transmission noise.
